Aisling O'Sullivan, also known as the stage name Aisling Bea (born on 16 March 1984), is an Irish writer, actress and comedian. Bea first began her career as a stand-up comedian in 2011 after playing small roles she played in Irish and British television dramas starting in 2009. In 2012, she began performing in sketch comedy shows or sitcoms as well as other similar shows. In 2012, following her received an award from the Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA), she started to appear often in various panel shows. In 2016 and 2017 she was the team leader for 8 Out of 10 Cats. Also, she is a contestant of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Her parents are Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead, her older sister was born. She was in 2012 the second female to be awarded the So You think you're Funny award. Bea is her maiden name to honor her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan is the daughter of a Kildare woman who was born in Kildare. Born on in March 16, 1984. The father of Bea was Brian was a veterinarian for horses who committed suicide at three-years-old. She did not learn the cause of her death until 13 years later. As a way to honor her dad, she adopted the stage-name Bea and, in the year 2017, she wrote an article on suicides in the family she was raised by for The Guardian. Bea was raised alongside her older sister Sinead by Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer, as well as a former professional racer.
